A new core has been introduced by ARM some time ago. The new core is a 64-bit core with a power saving instruction basis ARMv8-A, and is called Cortex A35. ARM itself mentions that the core is not intended to replace the Cortex A53, but to reach a variety of other devices that require power-efficient cores, including wearable.
Cortex A35 itself is intended to replace the Cortex A7 which is already quite behind for current needs. Core is carrying a clock speed of up to 1 GHz and consumes only 90 mW per core. Power consumption is called 33% lower when compared to the Cortex A53.
SoC with cores is called has a performance of up to 20% above the Cortex A7 SoC with similar configurations in 32-bit environments. In addition, because it is a 64-bit core, the Cortex A35 is certainly also better suited to accommodate a variety of operating systems and applications in wearable devices today. The size of the core itself is 25% smaller than Cortex A53.
ARM Cortex A35 cores mention that it can be produced at a lower cost than the Cortex A53, mainly due to a smaller size. This will certainly impact on the low price wearable devices that use these cores. Various devices with core Cortex A35 is expected to be present in 2016.
